The Northern Light, Power and Coal Company (NLPCCo.) constructed a power plant on Coal Creek, 20 kilometres from Forty Mile. The town of Forty Mile was located at the mouth of the Fortymile River, 67 km upstream from the Alaksa/Yukon border and 88 km downriver from Dawson City. The NLPCCo. supplied electricity and heat to Dawson City. NLPCCo. was the owner of capital stock of the Dawson Electric Light and Power Company, the Dawson City Water and Power Company, and the Yukon Telephone Syndicate.
